TRIVIA LEAGUE RULES

Complete Trivia League Rules

Welcome to the official TRIVIA:30 Spring 2023 League rules and regulations. We are excited to offer this additional layer of fun and competition to our regular trivia games and truly hope you will all have a great time with it, as we wish to make it a regular event!

The Spring League will run from March 13 through May 31, 2023, and will be based on an aggregate of your team’s 12 highest scores recorded at all live general knowledge trivia shows hosted by TRIVIA:30 during this span. With our current schedule, you could play 4-5 nights a week and have a shot at recording up to 52 scores. At the end, the league will award cash prizes to the teams with the top 3 aggregate scores. There will also be a cash prize for the team who records the most scores, to award you for your loyalty. Plus, the top 10 teams in the league will be invited to a special end of the season TRIVIA:30 Invitational Tournament! Now, let’s get the formalities out of the way.

Team Size:

  1. When registering, teams may include up to 6 regular players, and 2 alternates as their team “roster”. You are not required to have a full roster, but this will affect your lineup at the invitational tournament. The registration period will close at midnight on March 13, 2023.

  1. During regular trivia play, teams are allowed to have as many players as they like, and the entire roster is not required to be present for your score to count. As long as at least one member of the team roster is present, and you use the team name you registered under, the score will count towards league play.

  1. You will not be allowed to divide your team and play at two venues on the same night of the week under the same team name.

  1. When it comes time for the TRIVIA:30 Invitational Tournament, teams will be limited to 6 players, starting with the 6 primary team members that are registered, moving on to the 2 alternates, if any of the main players have a scheduling conflict. If other substitutions are necessary, we will do our best to allow it, within reason. This is only to prohibit teams from bringing in their “cousin Jen Kennings from Seattle” to play in the tournament, when they have never played with them during league play.

Gameplay:

  1. 2023 Spring League play will be based on scores earned at all TRIVIA:30 hosted live events from March 13 – May 31, 2023.

  2. Team rankings will be an aggregate of each team’s 12 highest scores during this time span, with the top 3 teams earning cash prizes.

  1. In the event of a tie in the overall aggregate score, the tie-breaker rules will be as follows:

A. The team with the highest single game score will be the winner. If that is equal,

B. The team who recorded the most trivia scores will be the winner. If that is also equal,

C. The teams that are tied will be asked a random tie-breaker style trivia question to decide the winner.

  1. Another separate cash prize will be given to the team who records the most scores during league play.

  2. In the event of a tie in the “Most Games Played” category, the tie-breaker rules will be as follows:

A. The team with the highest single game score will be the winner. If that is equal,

B. The team with the lowest single game score will be the winner. If that is also equal,

C. The teams that are tied will be asked a random tie-breaker style trivia question to decide the winner.

Score Updates:

  1. Score updates will be maintained by TRIVIA:30 and posted regularly on trivia30.com. Please try to keep a record of your team’s scores as well, just in case any corrections or updates are necessary.

Entry Fees & Cash Prizes:

  1. Entry fee per team is $120, or basically $20 per player if you choose to have a full 6 player roster. These fees will fund the prize pool, as well as cover the costs of maintaining and operating the league.

  2. Cash prizes for league champions will be awarded at the TRIVIA:30 Invitational Tournament, which will be held after the conclusion of league play, on a date to be determined. In addition to the regular season cash prizes, the tournament will have its own prizes as well.

  3. Cash prizes will be based on the number of teams participating in the league and will be officially announced after the registration period closes. They will be substantial, and well worth playing for!

If you have any questions regarding the league, please feel free to email us at [email protected], or if you see me in person, ask away.

We look forward to having a super fun time with this!

Cheers everyone,

Justin & Emily and the TRIVIA:30 Crew
